Application Instructions
EP2000 is a high performance, hard, water-based antifouling paint that is recommended for use on all substrates exposed to marine biofouling. EP2000 is not compatible with other existing antifouling coatings. To protect fiberglass from water migration and gel-coat blistering, prime using EP-PRIME 2000. Metal surfaces must be primed with EP-PRIME 1000 and EP-PRIME 2000 prior to application of EP 2000. DO NOT APPLY EP2000 BELOW 60 o F (15.6 o C) or when relative humidity exceeds 65%.
Surface Preparation
Previously Painted Surfaces
  • To renew old EP2000, sand lightly to abrade the surface. Wash hull with distilled water to remove sanding debris. Allow hull to fully dry. Apply new EP2000 antifouling paint as per the instructions contained in this bulletin. EP2000 is not compatible with traditional antifouling paints. Remove existing coatings using EP-STRIP. Abrade surface by sanding with 80 grit sandpaper. Wash surface to remove stripper residue and sanding debris. Prime surface with EP-PRIME 2000 following product technical data sheet. Apply new EP2000 antifouling paint as per the instructions contained in this bulletin.
Unpainted Surfaces
  • Fiberglass, gel-coat and wood
Prime bare substrate with EP-PRIME 2000 following product technical data sheet. Apply EP2000 after EP-PRIME 2000 is fully cured within 24 hours of application of the primer. If past the dry-to-recoat window, abrade EP-PRIME 2000 to a matte finish. Remove sanding dust and debris by cleaning with water. Apply new EP2000 antifouling paint as per the instructions contained in this bulletin.
  • Rubber
Degrease surface by cleaning with soapy water. Abrade surface with 80 grit sand paper. Remove sanding dust and debris by washing with distilled water. Allow surface to dry. Apply new EP 2000 antifouling paint as per the instructions contained in this bulletin.
  • Metal surfaces
must be primed with EP-PRIME 1000 following product technical data sheet prior to application of EP2000. Metal surfaces must be abraded to a 2mil profile then washed with water to remove contaminates. Apply EP2000 after EP-PRIME 1000 is fully cured within 24 hours of application of the primer. If past the dry-to-recoat window, abrade EP-PRIME 1000 to a matte finish. Remove sanding dust and debris by cleaning with water. Apply new EP2000 antifouling paint as per the instructions contained in this bulletin.
Mixing and Thinner
Stir EP2000 until a homogenous blend results. DO NOT POWER SHAKE the product. Thinning is not recommended. Clean up with water.
Application
EP2000 may be applied by spray, roller or brush. Only apply EP2000 to clean, dry, well-prepared surfaces. Apply three coats of EP2000 with an additional coat at the waterline. IMPORTANT: Be sure to follow dry-to-recoat and launch instructions (see Specification Data). Failure to follow drying instructions will severely jeopardize adhesion and performance. COOLER TEMPERATURES WILL REQUIRE INCREASING THE MINIMUM TIMES BETWEEN RECOATING AND LAUNCHING. DO NOT APPLY IF, within the next 12 hours, the temperature may drop below 60 o F(15.5 o C), or rain or heavy dew is expected.

NOTE: EP2000 is a waterborne coating, solvent residue in spray equipment will render the product unusable!
